Dr. Winnie Sun honored among Top 50 Women Leaders in Healthcare for 2025
Professional women’s network Women We Admire recently recognized , Associate Professor, Faculty of Health Sciences, as one of the Top 50 Women Leaders in Healthcare for 2025. This accolade celebrates Dr. Sun's significant contributions to health care, particularly in the field of dementia care.
Dr. Sun's research focuses on integrating innovative technologies into dementia care, aiming to enhance the quality of life for individuals living with dementia. Her recent work includes the development of virtual reality (VR) reminiscence therapy, which utilizes immersive VR experiences to help patients recall memories, thereby promoting social connectedness and emotional well-being.
In addition to her research, Dr. Sun serves as the Co-Research Director of the Advancement in Dementia Care Centre (ADCC), a collaboration between Â鶹´«Ã½ University and Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences. The ADCC focuses on advancing dementia-friendly communities through evidence-informed research and the scaling up of technological innovations to support aging in place.
