Â鶹´«Ã½ celebrates Disability Employment Awareness Month in October
Â鶹´«Ã½ is proud to celebrate its first Disability Employment Awareness Month (DEAM) this October, supporting the university’s core values of inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility (IDEA). DEAM takes place nationwide every October to promote and celebrate the inclusion of people with disabilities in the workplace and recognizes all individuals who live with a disability, whether visible or invisible.
Disability is driving the future of work because the number of Canadians who have a disability is increasing. For example, according to research by the Conference Board of Canada, the number of Canadians who have a physical disability alone is expected to increase by 1.8 per cent each year, reaching 3.6 million by 2030.
