Save the date: National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day: meeting-free day on September 29
As we continue our journey at Â鶹´«Ã½ University to demonstrate our commitment to truth and reconciliation, we seek the support and action of our campus community to advance and enable meaningful change.
The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day both fall on Saturday, September 30.
It's a day for:
- Education and reflection on Canada's involvement and history of residential schools.
- Recognition, remembrance and respect for the survivors of residential schools.
- Understanding the generational impacts residential schools have had—and continue to have—on Indigenous communities.
- Identifying institutional and individual actions we can all take to demonstrate commitment and action to reconciliation efforts.
Â鶹´«Ã½ will observe this day on Friday, September 29, a designated ‘no-meeting day’ at the university to create space for learning and action. This day is an opportunity for us to demonstrate and model an inclusive campus community as we seek individual meaningful ways to learn and grow together.
