Canadian Institutes of Health Research expand Reviewer in Training program for Spring 2023
The Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) has announced the launch and expansion of the for the Spring 2023 Project Grant competition.
The RiT program offers Early Career Researchers (ECRs) a learning opportunity to gain a better understanding of the elements of high-quality review and the peer review process through direct participation in the Project Grant competition.
Participants in the RiT program can now take part in one of two roles: Mentee or ECR reviewer.
- Like previous competitions, Mentees will participate in the Project Grant competition with the support of a Mentor. They will conduct practice reviews on up to three applications, attend the peer review meeting, present one review, and participate in the committee discussion.
- New to this competition, applicants who hold CIHR or equivalent funding may choose to apply as an ECR reviewer. ECR reviewers participate in the same capacity as all reviewers, without the support of a Mentor, and with a reduced number of applications to review (up to five).
Following completion of the RiT program, participants will be promoted within CIHR’s and are expected to participate in peer review when requested and available to do so.
The application period for the RiT program opened January 9 and closes Friday, February 3.
