‘Be the Roar’ and support para-athletes at Ontario Parasport Games
Durham Region will host the Ontario Parasport Games Friday, February 3 through Sunday, February 5. Organizers want the more than 300 visiting para-athletes – including the wheelchair basketball players who are playing at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre gyms – to experience the thrill of competing in front of stands filled with fans.
As a host venue for the Games and a proud partner, Â鶹´«Ã½ wants to support the initiative by encouraging businesses, schools, families, sports teams, churches and community organizations to form a fan club for a team and/or para-athletes.
It's a great team-building opportunity, a chance to learn more about para-sport, see first-hand all the amazing athleticism of the para-athletes, and help our community make a real difference.
Here’s how:
- Send an email to the Be the Roar team; they’ll help you pick a team or a para-athlete that your group can cheer for.
- Write letters of encouragement for the team or para-athlete to be delivered when they arrive for the Games.
- Most importantly, fill the stands when your team or para-athlete is competing (schedules will be posted in advance on the ). Admission to the Games is free; no tickets are required.
Together, we can make these Games most memorable for our visiting para-athletes!
