Vancouver Island University seeks mathematician to review NSERC Discovery Grant
Vancouver Island University is looking for a mathematician to review a Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) Discovery Grant.
The research focuses on adversarial situations on networks. Mathematically, such situations can be modeled using pursuit-evasion games and combinatorial games, where underlying graph structures determine constraints on game properties. The games can model real-world situations where efficient resource allocation is a priority.
The impact of this work is in minimizing the negative effects of adversarial situations on networks and optimizing resource allocation in competing business ventures. The impact of the program extends beyond the research to the training of highly qualified personnel, by providing exciting research training opportunities in an equitable and inclusive way for undergraduate and graduate students.
In recognition of their time and expertise, the reviewer will receive an honorarium of $200.
Application deadline: Saturday, October 15.
Interested reviewers can contact Natalia Westervelt, Grants and Contracts Facilitator, Vancouver Island University.
