STEAM-3D Maker Lab hosts Maker Days for pre-service teacher candidates
As part of the Faculty of Education's Foundations program, the hosted Maker Days for Â鶹´«Ã½'s pre-service teacher candidates on September 30 and October 7.
Returning for the first time in more than two years, Maker Days are a full-day series of workshops designed to introduce students in the Bachelor of Education program to the concept of maker pedagogies (method and practice of teaching through hands-on creativity and collaboration) and to promote STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) learning.
This year, the Maker Day workshops focused on a variety of digital and tangible tools to support learning through ‘making’ in face-to-face, hybrid, and online educational contexts, including Bloxels, CoSpaces Edu, Cricut, micro:bit, Minecraft, Tinkercad, robotics, circuits, social media, and artificial intelligence.
Student volunteers from the Faculty of Education as well as Engineering Outreach supported the STEAM-3D Maker Lab team, helping to prepare the next generation of teachers to use hands-on, inquiry-based learning experiences and powerful maker technologies in their future classrooms.
