FSSH professor Dr. Isabel Pedersen co-authors article about Â鶹´«Ã½â€™s Fabric of Digital Life research database

Dr. Isabel Pedersen, Professor, (FSSH), co-authored an article examining Â鶹´«Ã½’s research database and teaching platform. Fabric of Digital Life was created by Dr. Pedersen and members of Decimal Lab, and is is used by multiple universities in the United States

The article, appeared in Communication Design Quarterly Communication Design Quarterly, Volume 10, Issue 2, 2022. Co-authors include Katlynne Davis, Danielle Mollie Stambler, Jessica Lynn Campbell, Daniel L. Hocutt, and Ann Hill Duin.

The authors explore how multiple universities in the U.S. use the database as a research and teaching platform to help students develop critical communication skills and learn to question the often-unseen systems of power enabled by the infrastructure of digital technologies.

Fabric of Digital of Life addresses the issue that technologies are not fundamentally neutral; that is, they are designed, developed, and adopted according to the values, biases, ideologies, and cultures within which they thrive.
