Upcoming August Meeting of the Community of Practice – Indigenization and Decolonization Towards Reconciliation
The Community of Practice – Indigenization and Decolonization Towards Reconciliation, is holding a meeting in August to discuss the upcoming academic semester.
Since Fall 2021, there have been seven Community of Practice meetings. Highlights include:
- Guest speakers: Jill Thompson (Indigenous Cultural Advisor at Â鶹´«Ã½ University), Cynthia Wesley-Esquimaux (Chair on Truth and Reconciliation at Lakehead University), Dr. Brent Debassige (Associate Professor in Education at Western University), and Dr. Pauline Wakeham (Associate Professor in English and Writing Studies at Western University).
- Workshop on inclusion, Indigenization, and decolonization.
- Workshop and ongoing conversations about disciplinary assumptions - to uncover how colonial values might be perpetuated in academic work.
The next meeting will take place Tuesday, August 16 at 2:30 p.m. via Google Meet. New members are invited to join.
