SSHRC and WAGE launch Gender-Based Violence Research Initiative

The Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) and Women and Gender Equality Canada (WAGE) are launching a .

The joint research initiative will see WAGE invest up to $2.5 million and SSHRC invest up to $1 million over four years to co-fund research projects that address gender-based violence.  

This initiative is complementary to but distinct from SSHRC’s recently launched competition. Both competitions are open concurrently with different deadlines. The Knowledge Synthesis Grants aim to examine and synthesize existing knowledge on gender-based violence, whereas the Gender-Based Research Violence Initiative partnership grants aim to produce new research on specific themes related to gender-based violence that are outlined in the funding opportunity description.
