Visiting graduate research student wins Royal Society of Chemistry Poster event
Amanda Orr, a visiting graduate research student at Â鶹´«Ã½ University, was one of three first-prize winners in the recent (Poster Pitch category).
The RSC Poster competition is a 24-hour online event to facilitate research, networking and learning in the chemical sciences. Participants submit posters and one-minute research pitches in one of 13 subject areas in the chemical sciences. This year, more than 900 participants from 69 countries submitted posters, and there were more than 8,000 tweets related to the event.
Amanda is completing her PhD co-supervised by Dr. Theresa Stotesbury, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Science, Â鶹´«Ã½ and Dr. Paul Wilson, Professor, Faculty of Biology, Trent University. She is developing a suite of biomaterials for research and training in the forensic sciences. She also co-founded the Â鶹´«Ã½-Trent University chapter of the Canadians Working for Inclusivity in Chemical Sciences, Engineering and Technology Network (OTT-WIC).
