Presidential renewal process

The university’s Board of Governors has decided to pursue a . The board’s decision to pursue renewal rests in its confidence in Dr. Steven Murphy’s leadership in his first term. Consistent with past practice, the board will consult with the community regarding the strategic direction of the university. This feedback, gathered through a transparent process, will inform the board’s decision and provide direction for the next presidential mandate. The board intends to consider the community feedback and make a decision regarding renewal and the direction for a second presidential mandate, if any, at its meeting on Thursday, December 9.

Also consistent with past practice, the board has appointed a , composed of board members including a teaching staff governor, an administrative staff governor and a student governor, to gather and consider feedback from the community. The committee members will attend consultations to hear the community’s perspectives on areas for continued or increased strategic focus in the next presidential term.

Internal and external feedback will be collected through a variety of ways in order to give everyone an opportunity to be heard:

  • Virtual Town Hall with students, faculty and staff will be held on:
  • One-on-one interviews with external university stakeholders.
  • One-on-one interviews with senior employees selected by the Board.
  • Emails sent directly to Dietmar Reiner, Chair, Board of Governors, between now and Wednesday, October 20.
