Join the Fall 2021 virtual Book Club
The university’s provides an opportunity for faculty and staff to engage in learning and professional development by:
- Reading a book.
- Getting together with colleagues to explore new ideas.
- Networking with others.
- Discussing the content of a book.
- Creating an action plan to apply learning at work and in life.
Each person receives a personal copy of the book (theirs to keep), along with guided questions to consider for discussion with the larger group.
The selection for fall is the fictional book, by Cherie Dimaline.
Book description:
In a futuristic world ravaged by global warming, people have lost the ability to dream, and dreamlessness has led to widespread madness. The only people still able to dream are Indigenous Peoples in North America, and it is their marrow that holds the cure for the rest of the world. But getting the marrow and dreams means death for the unwilling donors.
Discussion session information:
Participants will meet online three times as a group; attendance at all three sessions is essential. During each session, participants will discuss the contents and themes of the book and share thoughts about how the ideas presented in the book may be applied within the university community.
All sessions take place on Google Meet (participants will receive the link once they register) from 3 to 4 p.m. on:
- Thursday, November 18
- Thursday, December 16
- Thursday, January 20
