Join the community event honouring the 215 Indigenous children found in Kamloops, B.C. – June 16
Â鶹´«Ã½ University, Durham College, and Trent University Durham will hold an honouring ceremony for the 215 children whose remains were found in Kamloops, B.C.
When: Wednesday, June 16 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Where: North Oshawa campus location, near the university sign at the corner of Simcoe Street and Conlin Road.
Event details:
- Please wear an orange shirt if you have one.
- Attendees can join the event any time and do not have to stay the entire duration.
- If you can, please bring a pair of children’s shoes or a stuffed toy to donate.
- There will be a physically distanced smudge.
- Everyone is invited to write a message on a paper cut-out of an orange shirt that will be displayed at the site.
- The honouring site will be left up for 215 hours, and then the shoes and stuffed toys will be donated to a local shelter.
Everyone is asked to follow public-health measures, so physical distancing and masks are required.
