Upcoming peak submission period and update on in-person research

The university’s (REB) receives a high volume of submissions from June to November each year, which may result in extended review turnaround times. Due to the pandemic, the REB has also received a high number of change request applications to convert from in-person recruitment and data collection methods to remote means.

In preparation for the upcoming peak submission period, researchers are encouraged to submit their applications early or if possible, during non-peak periods to minimize unforeseen delays.

The REB’s suspension of in-person research activities remains in effect until further notice. The REB continues to accept consultations to discuss current or future work involving in-person activities. The REB consults can provide customized advice on pandemic-related ethical concerns to consider in your submission once in-person research is permitted.

The REB will share new procedures, requirements and guidance for in-person research activities in a future Weekly Report.

If you require assistance with your submission or would like to book a consultation, contact the Research Ethics office.
