Dr. Thomas McMorrow, Associate Professor, Faculty of Social Science and Humanities recently presented on an international panel and published two journal articles about Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) in Canada.

- End of Life Decisions: Comparing New Perspectives, University of Trento, Italy, May 12.
Dr. McMorrow discusses legislation in Canada and the United States related to end-of-life decision-making. Other presenters addressed legal developments in Germany, Austria and Spain. (segment beings at 10:35).
Journal articles:
Both articles arise from interdisciplinary research (medicine, law, and socio-legal studies) on the experiences of MAiD providers.
- examines how MAiD practitioners in Canada responded to restrictions put in place because of the COVID-19 pandemic alongside their existing legal obligations and commitments as MAiD providers.
- examines how clinicians assess capacity in people requesting medical assistance in dying.
