You may have heard that the practice of mindfulness can improve:- Well-being: By focusing on the here and now, many people who practice mindfulness find they are less likely to get caught up in worries about the future or regrets over the past, are less preoccupied with concerns about success and self-esteem, and are better able to form deep connections with others.
- Physical health: If greater well-being isn’t enough of an incentive, scientists have discovered mindfulness techniques can help improve physical health in a number of ways. For example, mindfulness can help relieve stress, lower blood pressure, reduce chronic pain, and improve sleep.
- Mental health: In recent years, mindfulness meditation has become an important element in the treatment of a number of mental health challenges including anxiety, depression and substance use.
U.S.-based mindfulness experts Tara Brach and Jack Kornfield have launched a free, 40-day online guided training program to help you establish a mindfulness meditation practice. Each lesson is only 15 minutes long, and you can begin the program at any time. to participate.

If you need additional or other kinds of support, Morneau Shepell, the university’s (EFAP) provider, offers all university employees (full-time continuing and limited-term) and their dependants access to confidential counselling and support services.
