Dr. Adam Dubrowski to participate in virtual tele-simulation and ultrasound workshop – December 15

On Tuesday, December 15, , Canada Research Chair in Health-Care Simulation and co-lead of the university’s , will participate in a lecture entitled .

About the event:

The COVID-19 pandemic has led to increased health-care utilization, with patients frequently needing intensive care units. Critically ill patients with COVID-19 need central-venous access (a thin tube (cather) placed into a large vein above the heart) to provide life-sustaining treatment. Ultrasound guidance has been shown to improve the safety of central venous access.

In this lecture, Dr. Dubrowski, along with experts from the Madrecor Hospital emergency room in Uberlândia City, Brazil, and Memorial University of Newfoundland’s Faculty of Medicine, will describe how to use point-of-care ultrasound to insert a catheter into the internal jugular vein, and how to use low-cost tele-simulation to train physicians in dynamic needle guidance.
