Award recognizes Â鶹´«Ã½ Indigenous Nursing student for multiple achievements

Rachel Radyk, fourth-year student in the Registered Practical Nursing-to-Bachelor of Science in Nursing Bridge program, recently received the Miigwewin Award from the Ogemawahj Tribal Council. The award recognizes the efforts of First Nations students in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Rachel was also featured as the in the Canadian Indigenous Nurses Association’s Nominate a Nurse or Midwife campaign. She is a practising Registered Practical Nurse with a passion for Indigenous health, life promotion and advocacy. She has represented the student body as:

  • Committee Co-ordinator, Nursing Students of Ontario
  • Indigenous Health Advocacy Chair, Canadian Nursing Student Association
  • Â鶹´«Ã½ University/Georgian College Nursing Student Community Representative

Rachel was also recently appointed the new student member of the President’s Indigenous Reconciliation Task Force and Indigenous Education Advisory Circle.
