Update on Winter 2021 term
It’s hard to believe we’re already a month into our 2020-2021 academic year. Now that we’ve settled into the rhythms of the Fall term, the university has shifted its focus toward planning for Winter 2021. There’s a lot of important information in this memo, so please take time to review it. You can also find this information and additional updates regarding changes as a result of COVID-19 under Updates on the Ready for You website.
What working and learning will look like this Winter
A safe, healthy and engaging campus has always been our No. 1 priority, which requires long-term effort and commitment. That’s why we’re continuing with our conservative approach to our gradual return to campus.
The Winter 2021 term will look much like the current Fall term: we’ll focus on limiting in-person campus presence. We’ll continue to deliver most of our academic programming through online channels, while providing active hands-on learning on campus where it is safe to do so.
The majority of our employees will continue to work remotely to mitigate exposure for those whose work and studies requires them to be on campus.
Multi-level government and public-health data and guidance will inform our plans for future semesters; we expect to provide an update in February on the delivery of Spring/Summer 2021 academic programming.
Parking update
Due to the continuation of online learning for Winter 2021, parking gates will remain up throughout the Winter 2021 academic term (January 4 through April 23).
Details:
- The Parking Services office remains closed until further notice.
- Parking Services will not sell semester permits or charge daily parking rates during the Winter term.
- All parking gates (with the exception of the 61 Charles Street Lot at the downtown Oshawa location), will remain open. Note: If you need to visit the 61 Charles Street Building, press the call button at the parking gate to ask Campus Security to allow access to the lot.
- Spaces in all parking lots are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Illegal parking in fire routes and accessible parking stalls will be enforced.
Note: The university will communicate updates about Spring/Summer 2021 parking at a later date.

COVID-19 reporting steps
Now, more than ever, it’s important for all of us to work together as a community to keep everyone safe and healthy.
We’ve developed a to isolate and contain all situations that arise for those who visit or live on campus.
