Participate in a consultation on the university’s vision, mission and values
Over the past two years, Â鶹´«Ã½ University has worked towards creating an action-based Integrated Academic-Research Plan to identify how each unit will help the university move forward into the future. While the university provided five overarching priorities as a framework, the units put forward the strategic actions on how to achieve those priorities.
The time has now come for us to take a new look at our aspirations for the next decade with respect to our research, teaching and engagement with our communities, while supporting the people, processes and systems that are vital to achieving success.
Our new university vision, mission and values need to recognize the social, political, cultural and economic contexts in which we operate, while being true to our core ideals. As we face an increasingly competitive global higher-education sector, the challenges of a more constrained financial landscape, and the disruptive opportunities presented, we must adapt to the needs of the present day while ensuring our aspirations align with the society in which we exist.
Your opinion is important. The university has published a consultation document to invite discussion and capture views from faculty, staff, students, alumni, and community and industry partners on the most significant choices we need to make. Access the document by selecting the Consultation Documents button on the University Planning office website. The document invites your views on:
- Our vision: What we want to be known for.
- Our mission: How we might grow and evolve in the future to make the vision a reality.
- Our values: What behaviours we should aspire to as we progress toward the vision together.
You may submit your consultation responses online until 4 p.m. on Friday, November 6.
If you’d like to discuss the strategic consultation further, contact lookingahead@ontariotechu.ca.
Your input will be used to produce a final draft strategy, which will be presented to Academic Council for discussion on Tuesday, November 24, and to the university’s Board of Governors thereafter.
Thank you for sharing your views as we collectively plan the next successful chapter in the university's history.
