Spaces still available in Continuous Learning 2020 virtual summer camps
Â鶹´«Ã½’s Office of Continuous Learning has launched a variety of unique virtual summer camp programs for July and August focusing on science, technology, engineering and more.
The camps provide an interactive and fun learning experience where skilled professionals create an inclusive and positive online environment for children to explore and thrive. These camps are built on 12 years of camp expertise gained from offering face-to-face camps on campus each summer.
The virtual camps feature:
- A wide variety of summer camp activities to engage children and youth in a virtual environment.
- Experienced camp counsellors: Ontario Certified teachers, teacher candidates from the university’s Faculty of Education as well as other university students returning as camp counsellors.
- Small camp sizes to ensure interactivity and active engagement.
- Low camper-to-counsellor ratio with staff working closely with individual groups. Most camps will have a 4:1 or 5:1 ratio (especially programs for younger campers).
- Minimal caregiver support required: Younger children will benefit from some support from an older sibling or adult at the start of the daily session to ensure the camper is able to access the online meeting room (Google Meet). Counsellors will be the main support during the camp activities. Technical support will be available during the camp sessions.
- Flexibility: Many of the most popular camp programs will be offered several times. Morning sessions will run from 9 to 11 a.m. and afternoon sessions will run from 1 to 3 pm.
- Camp activities: All sessions will include a short break and ‘camp game.’
Spaces are still available in a number of camps. Register soon to secure your child’s spot!
