Help us celebrate the class of 2020

Since the university can’t be together at the moment to celebrate the class of 2020 in person, Â鶹´«Ã½ wants to recognize new graduates through the month of June online.

The Office of the Registrar and the Communications and Marketing department are developing a special celebration page for the Convocation website where we will include videos, filters and backgrounds for the graduating class, as well as a social media wall featuring posts using #OntarioTechGrad.

How you can help

We want the entire university community to get involved in this project! We invite faculty and staff to submit four- to 15-second congratulatory clips for a special video we will post on the website and distribute on the university’s social media channels.

Not comfortable speaking on camera but still want to be involved? We are also looking for clips of dancing and cheering to help us recreate our tradition of the platform party dancing out of the Tribute Communities Centre at the end of each Convocation ceremony.

If you’re interested in participating, send your clips to socialmedia@ontariotechu.ca.

Tips for recording your video

  • Videos shot on handheld devices are preferred.
    • If you need help, have someone hold the device for you in close proximity, or check out this .
  • Make sure your video is vertical in orientation.
  • Record your video in a well-lit and quiet space.
    • The light source should be in front/facing you to avoid a backlit video.
    • Filming outdoors is great, but make sure it isn’t a windy day and you’re not competing against other sounds from nature or your neighbours.
