New professional development sessions for March 2020
The Human Resources department will offer a number of new professional development programs in March:
- Powerful Storytelling: Learn how to harness the power of your personal stories and connect the message to your audience in a powerful way at a deeper level.
- When: Tuesday, March 17 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
- Where: Energy Systems and Nuclear Science Research Centre (ERC), Room 1056
- Managing Conflict: If there’s something you dread talking about or if you feel like you need to be ready for combat, this practical workshop is for you. Use your real-life examples to grow your ability to handle difficult conversations.
- When: Tuesday, March 24 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
- Where: ERC, Room 1056
- Compassion Fatigue: This two-hour session is all about the caregiver’s health. This two-hour session is all about the caregiver’s mental health. Attend if you’d like some great strategies to maintain or reclaim your own sense of well-being, regardless of what you are exposed to by caring for others.
- When: Tuesday, March 24 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
- Where: Campus Corners, Room 2222
- Creative Problem Solving and Decision Making: If you like to tackle the issues, leap over hurdles, and push the bar this session is for you! Explore the six-step model for digging into a problem, generating innovative solutions, and execute on them all while building trust and confidence with your team.

- Where: ERC, Room 1056
- Twice the Work, Half the Time: This workshop introduces a three-part model that provides managers with the skills they need to delegate responsibility while overcoming barriers and motivating staff. Streamline your workload and improve your turnaround time without sacrificing quality work and effort.
- When: Thursday, March 26 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
- Where: ERC, Room 1056
- Handling Difficult Situations: This program provides tools and skills to manage the difficult people and circumstances we encounter throughout our workplace. Learn how to build relationships, understand how communication and relationships work together, use emotional intelligence in engagements with others, and come away with an effective process you can use when you’re in one of those situations.

- Strength Finder: Do you do what you do best every day? Chances are, you don't. From the cradle to the cubicle, we devote more time to fixing our shortcomings than we do to developing our strengths. Join this session to discover what you’re really good at.
