University’s Smoke-Free Campus Policy now in effect

In the spring of 2019 The Regional Municipality of Durham amended its to include educational institutions. The enforcement of this bylaw is anticipated to begin this month. Violation of this bylaw could result in a $305 fine issued by the Region’s bylaw enforcement.

In anticipation of the Region’s bylaw amendment, our campus became smoke-free in October 2018, followed by the development of the university’s permanent .

Smoking and/or vaping of any type, including tobacco, cannabis and shisha, is prohibited anywhere on campus, including the university’s downtown Oshawa location buildings and all student residences on campus. The policy applies to all campus community members, including students, faculty, staff, visitors and contractors. The policy also provides clarity regarding enforcement. Please .
