Windows 10 update coming Monday, January 13
Information Technology (IT) Services will push an automated installation of the new Windows 10 (1809) version to individuals running an older version. These individuals will be contacted in January.
To check if you will be part of the Windows 10 (1809) update:
- Select the Windows key to open the Windows menu.
- Type ‘About your PC’ and select About your PC from the list.
- ‘About’ will display the Windows version on the right-hand side. If it is not 1809, you will be part of the update.

- Dark Mode for Explorer
- Start menu search improvements

What will occur after the update?
The next time you restart your computer after the update is made available, your machine will apply the update. This update may take up to an hour. It does not remove any files, software or user configurations. Windows will continue to look and work they way it previously did, other than the addition of the new features listed above.
If you are already on Windows 10 (1809 or later), you are not affected by this update.
