Information session on proposed Strategic Mandate Agreement 3 (SMA3) – September 18
On Wednesday, September 18,* we will hold a session to present an overview of the next phase of the Strategic Mandate Agreement (SMA3) between the university and the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities (MTCU).
SMAs outline the roles and differentiators for each institution and how they align with the government’s objectives, including metrics to measure progress. As announced in the April 2019 provincial budget, SMA3, which will cover 2020-2025, will tie MTCU funding to university performance outcomes.
In the Winter term, we held town hall sessions to provide an overview of the technical points known at that time. In our discussions, we noted that institution will have some input on two of 10 proposed MTCU metrics:
- Institutional (program) Strength
- Economic Impact
As the definitions had not been set for these metrics, Brad MacIsaac, Assistant Vice-President, Planning, led a conversation on possibilities.
In this new session, we’ll walk through what we’ve learned about these two indicators, as well as the universities’ proposed definition. We also want your feedback.
Please join this session as your schedule permits:
- Downtown Oshawa location: Wednesday, September 18 from 9 to 10 a.m. – Bordessa Hall, Room 524.
