Â鶹´«Ã½ University email domains changing to reflect new brand

IT Services is announcing changes to email addressing for both employees and students. These changes represent an important piece in a larger effort to incorporate the new Â鶹´«Ã½ University brand into IT applications and services.

Addresses with the suffix …

Will change to …

uoit.ca

ontariotechu.ca

uoit.net

ontariotechu.net

dc-uoit.ca

dc-ot.ca

 .ca (Outlook) accounts:

As of Friday, August 16, every uoit.ca account will have a secondary (alias) ontariotechu.ca email address. This change will be made in the background, with no disruption in email service. Outgoing email will temporarily continue to use the old address, but incoming email can be received on either address.

This phase will allow employees to use the new email address on stationery, on business cards, in their signature files, etc. Later this year after additional system changes, the ontariotechu.ca address will become the primary email address for outgoing email and the uoit.ca address will become the alias.

 .net (Google Gmail accounts):

All uoit.net accounts will be switched to the new ontariotechu.net address on the weekend of Friday, August 16 to Sunday, August 18. This changeover will result in an outage to .net accounts of up to 24 hours beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday, August 16. During this outage, students will not have access to email or Google applications.

From that point, email systems will accept incoming email addresses to either the existing uoit.net or new ontariotechu.net email addresses at all times.

Tips on how you can help with the transition to our new brand:

  1. Notify your contacts that your email address is changing by utilizing the signature feature within the email client you are using. We suggest a simple note at the bottom of your email stating:

My email address is changing to @ontariotechu, please update your information.

TIP: and

  1. Update all your online accounts including social media sites with your new email address. To ensure you still have access to these accounts (after Friday, August 16) you will need to update your account information for each.

TIP: If you use a password manager, use this as a source to help identify the sites requiring changes or look for previous website confirmation emails you have received or are subscribed to.

  1. Remember to update your new email address on your mobile device.

TIP: and .

Students will receive a separate advisory regarding email changes later this week.
