MyStart: Orientation 2019 events underway through September 6
The Office of Student Life invites faculty and staff to join in welcoming new students to campus.
MyStart: Orientation kicked off the morning of September 3 with Opening Ceremonies. Two full days of free programming will follow, designed to provide new undergraduate students with the opportunity to:
- Attend a Faculty Orientation to meet their Dean, academic advisors and faculty members.
- Connect with upper-year Peer Leaders who will mentor them throughout the year.
- Attend the First Year Me, a play at Regent Theatre developed specifically for Â鶹´«Ã½ students. First Year Me discusses the various social transitions and conflicts students might face, including anxiety, drugs, alcohol and sexual violence.
- Attend the Campus Cup soccer games to cheer on the Â鶹´«Ã½ Ridgebacks as they face off against the Durham College Lords.
- Learn about student life at Â鶹´«Ã½ and the services designed to support their success.
- Meet their peers through various interactive activities including the traditional Wild Goose Chase, a friendly inter-faculty competition involving a photo scavenger hunt, build activity and song competitions.
- Learn about ways to get involved on campus at the Involvement Fair.
Staff and faculty can participate in:
- Campus Cup Soccer Doubleheader – Â鶹´«Ã½ Ridgebacks vs. Durham Lords:Tuesday, September 3 – Vaso’s Field
- Women’s game - 7:30 p.m.
- Men’s game - 8:30 p.m.
- Wild Goose Chase Finale and Faculty Awards: Wednesday, September 4 at 5 p.m. – CRWC, gyms 3, 4 and 5.
