Call for proposals: Skill ’n Tell lunch-and-learn workshops

The Human Resources (HR) department invites faculty and staff to gather, learn and share with one another in the Skill ’n Tell program.

HR is currently accepting proposals for workshop sessions facilitated by you and/or your colleagues. We have great talent across the university and we all have something to learn from one another!

Workshops will take place between September and June and will be communicated to faculty and staff through the new 2019-2020 Fall and Winter Learning Catalogue. Workshop proposals should focus on professional and/or personal development of employees at the university. Each program will be 60 to 90 minutes long and run between noon and 1:30 p.m.

Why should you share your knowledge and skills?

  • Sharing provides meaning. We all want our work to be meaningful. Sharing our work with others helps us and others see that meaning.
  • Sharing provides a sense of prideWhen we are proud of what we do on a daily basis, it has a positive impact on our work.
  • Sharing creates enthusiasm. When people talk about something they are proud and passionate about, their enthusiasm for their work grows.
  • Sharing builds team spirit at the university. Opportunities for people to share and learn from one another encourage a positive culture and a more engaged and collaborative university community.

What if you don’t have time to develop a workshop on your own?

Partner up with a colleague and facilitate together. More heads in the game will make for less work and a better product.

What if you don’t have a skill to share?

Not only is this an opportunity to learn skills from one another, but it’s also a great place to gain more understanding about the great work your peers do across our growing campus. If there is an initiative within your department or faculty you would like people to learn more about, share it!
