Passion and Pride: Driving Oshawa’s Transformation - March 28

We are proud of Oshawa’s passion for cars and the automotive industry. What could happen to our community’s identity when the Oshawa General Motors plant closes? Is this a chance for transformation or the end of an era?

On Thursday, March 28, a panel of labour, government, education and cultural leaders will discuss these questions.

Panelists include:

  • Wesley Crichlow, PhD, Professor, Faculty of Social Science and Humanities, University of Ontario Institute of Technology
  • Heather McMillan, Executive Director, Durham Workforce Authority
  • Robina and Celina Brah, Co-Chairs, COMM-Unity (local non-profit organization working on diversity)
  • Catherine Richards, Manager, Culture and Centralized Recreation Services, City of Oshawa

This is a public event in conjunction with the Communicating Identities class taught by , Associate Professor, Faculty of Social Science and Humanities.
