Winter 2019 Teaching Squares opportunity for all faculty
Are you a full-time or part-time faculty member looking to connect with colleagues? Are you interested in observing other classes to gain new insight? If so, the Teaching Squares program might be of interest to you.
Offered by the university’s Teaching and Learning Centre (TLC), the Durham College (DC) Centre for Academic and Faculty Enrichment, and Ontario Power Generation (OPG), this professional development opportunity provides a chance for you to meet colleagues from a range of disciplines and reflect upon your own teaching practice.
Each group (square) includes four instructors from a variety of disciplines. Group members may be from the university, the college or OPG. Participants visit each other’s classes to observe teaching methods, classroom materials and classroom management. After observation, they meet together informally to reflect on the positive lessons learned. All participants complete a brief reflection at the end of the program, which may be included as part of a teaching dossier. The program concludes with a celebration dinner for all participants at the end of the semester.
The total time commitment over the semester is about seven to eight hours. There is no cost to participate. Return participants are welcome!
Registration for the Winter 2019 offering of this program is open until 1 p.m. on Thursday, January 31.
