Age-Friendly Consultation – January 22

Canada is experiencing unprecedented growth in its aging population. By 2031, one in four Canadians will be an older adult. In the City of Oshawa, more than 30 per cent of residents are older adults. As such, new responses to the educational needs and interests of this emerging demographic are needed. Post-secondary institutions need to develop innovative teaching, research and community engagement strategies to answer the anticipated demand.

As part of this trend, the University of Ontario Institute of Technology will consult the campus community to determine interest in and support for becoming an Age-Friendly University (AFU) through the .

Shilpa Dogra, PhD, Associate Professor, Faculty of Health Sciences invites faculty, staff and students to participate in the university’s Age-Friendly Consultation on Tuesday, January 22.

The consultation will start with a short presentation, followed by an opportunity for participants to ask questions and provide comments/feedback.

When and where:

  • Tuesday, January 22:
    • North Oshawa location: UL Building, Room 4 – noon to 1 p.m.
    • Downtown Oshawa location: 61 Charles Street Building, Room 212 - 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
