Partnerships at the university

Partnerships between higher learning, industry and community are essential to support and advance the university’s research and academic mandates. Strong connections with public, not-for-profit and private-sector partners inform our teaching, provide experiential learning opportunities for our students, contribute to our research, support strategic initiatives, and so much more.

Industry and community partners want to interact with the university and are looking for more holistic and effective ways to do just that.  For this reason, the university has created a Partnership office under External Relations and Advancement, led by Susan McGovern, Vice-President, External Relations and Advancement, and Lindsay Coolidge, Manager, Government and Community Relations. Key initiatives under this office include:

  • Facilitation and co-ordination of strategic university partners.
  • Management and maintenance of the university’s Partnership Portal ().
  • Establishment of a Partnership Steering Committee and Working Groups for our strategic partners.

In the coming weeks, Sue and Lindsay, along with Jennifer Alsop-Lee, Strategic Partnership Officer, will meet with faculties and departments to discuss the Partnership office’s mandate and activities.

This is an exciting time. The university has much to offer industry, community and government partners. Thanks to the committed efforts of faculty and staff, the university is well-positioned to strengthen its engagement with external partners. A dedicated Partnership office will augment and support our efforts in building strong, mutually beneficial relationships.
