Reminder: Emergency lockdown drill at downtown Oshawa location on Wednesday, October 31

The Office of Campus Safety will conduct an emergency lockdown drill on Wednesday, October 31 at 9:45 a.m. at the university’s downtown campus location.

The drill will last approximately 15 to 30 minutes. It is designed to build awareness around the steps to take in the event of an actual lockdown, while also testing our emergency response plan and lockdown procedures. This will help the Office of Campus Safety identify areas for improvement.

  • Read the on the service disruption page.

The university realizes an exercise of this nature can be an unwanted distraction; however, it is necessary to maintain the highest level of safety and security for students, faculty, staff and visitors. We also understand this experience may be unsettling for some individuals. Faculty and staff can access counselling services through the after the drills.

The campus will close during the drills and traffic will not be permitted to enter or leave the premises. Please keep this in mind when scheduling meetings with internal or external parties during this time frame.

The Office of Campus Safety will also be using the Campus Incident Response Emergency Notification System (CIRENS) to notify faculty, staff and students during the lockdown exercise. Students should follow the university on Twitter to receive CIRENS messages, not only for this exercise, but for all emergent situations on campus.

You can also provide feedback on the drill itself via .

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
