First Contact—Indigenous education television series now available

The university has obtained streaming licenses to , a television series that follows six Canadians—who have racist attitudes toward Indigenous people—on a month-long journey where they learn about Indigenous culture, history and present-day communities.

This is a great tool to better understand Indigenous people and address unsympathetic attitudes expressed by many Canadians.

Each episode runs approximately 45 minutes.

Student Learning Centre launches new programs

The Student Learning Centre has officially launched Stride, a learning skills program for students, and the Virtual Writing Room, a space where students have access to writing help online.

is available to all students, though it is strongly recommended for students who are on academic probation and need help getting back on track. Those who complete five or more sessions will receive a LinkedIn recommendation.

The is open Monday to Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. and Fridays from 1 to 4 p.m. Students can participate at .

Mood Walks begins downtown

In addition to the north Oshawa campus location, the Mood Walks program has now started at the downtown Oshawa campus location. Students and staff are welcome to join the Mood Walks group every Tuesday at noon. The meeting point is the main lobby of the Education Building.

The north Oshawa walks will continue every Wednesday at noon. The meeting place is the Gate to the Future sculpture near the pond behind ACE.
