Innovative Initiatives Fund accepting project notices of intent

In June, the university that funding for the Innovative Initiatives Fund (IIF) has been acquired for a third round. The IIF Committee is now accepting notice of intent (NOI) submissions.

Interested applicants must submit a project proposal NOI to give members of the University of Ontario Institute of Technology and Durham College community the opportunity to reach out to project participants should they be interested in collaborating.

Each submission must include:

  • A brief description of the project.
  • Project participants, including contact information and home institution.
  • Opportunities for collaboration on the project.

NOIs must be submitted to iif@dc-uoit.ca before end of the day on Monday, October 15 to be considered.

As of Saturday, October 20, all NOIs will be posted on the . Those interested in taking part in a specific project will have the opportunity to reach out to the identified research group. Teams will then have from Thursday, November 15 to Friday, February 1 to submit fully developed proposals.

Funding for this third round of projects will run from Monday, April 1, 2019 to Tuesday, March 31, 2020.

With $300,000 in funding available, the IIF will support collaborative projects proposed by employees at both institutions that address a need or solve a problem in a new way. The projects must be transformative, beneficial and equitable for both institutions and pave the way for future collaborations, including with the broader community.

The IIF program focuses on projects that concentrate on one or more of the following areas:

  • Academic and student services initiatives.
  • Research and innovation.
  • Support for entrepreneurship.
  • Joint partnerships involving the community.
  • Joint administrative innovations.
