IT Services launches SynaMan for secure file transfer

The Information Technology (IT) Services department has launched SynaMan (pronounced ‘cinnamon’), a new file-transfer software that encrypts and password-protects files shared internally or externally.

To ensure data security and confidentiality, IT Services installed SynaMan on internal servers.

Who can use this service?

All university faculty and staff can use it. No approvals or forms are required to access it.

When would you use SynaMan?

Faculty and staff at the university share information internally and externally as part of their daily activities. SynaMan allows you to share information containing confidential and/or personal information safely, limiting the risk of an accidental data breach.

With SynaMan you can:

  • Encrypt and password-protect files, and share them with intended recipients.
  • Recover or remove files when they are accidentally sent to an incorrect recipient.
  • Receive email confirmation when a recipient successfully downloads the file.
  • Invite users to upload a file to share.
  • Share files too large to email, and stop relying on external applications like Dropbox.
