Process and call for nominations for Search Committee for the Vice-President Responsible for Research
The university is beginning the search process to identify its next full-term Vice-President Responsible for Research. The Vice-President Responsible for Research will spearhead a cohesive approach to the research portfolio, and develop a strategic research plan working closely with the President, Provost, deans, faculty members and staff.
The university has a Senior Academic Administrative Appointments Policy, and Provost and Vice-President, Academic Appointment and Renewal Procedures, that set out the process for conducting the appointment and/or renewal. In accordance with the procedures, the university’s President and Vice-Chancellor Steven Murphy has notified the Board of Governors of the need to appoint a search committee, and will initiate the appointment process in accordance with these procedures.

The Search Committee will include:
- Seven faculty members, at least one from each of the Faculties, including one Dean, and one Research Chair.
- One graduate student.
- One administrative staff member from the Office of the Vice-President Responsible for Research.
- One administrative staff member from Human Resources.
- President (as Chair).
Cathy Pitcher, Assistant to the President, will serve as Secretary to the Search Committee.
Search Committee membership will be conditional upon agreement to the confidentiality requirements as established in the Policy on Senior Academic Administrative Appointments.
If you are in one of the above categories and are interested in joining the Search Committee, please submit your expression of interest to president@uoit.ca by Friday, July 20. Your statement should explain your interest and why you feel you would be a valuable member of the Committee. The university will appoint and announce Search Committee members following consultation with the appropriate body of the Board of Governors.
