Recent Forensic Science faculty and student achievements

faculty members and students participated in the , which took place April 30 through May 4 in Gatineau, Quebec.

Kimberly Nugent, Associate Teaching Professor, was a panelist at a workshop entitled Forensic Science: Bar and the Bench.

Fourth-year student Mirai Gendi and Hélène LeBlanc, PhD, Associate Professor , presented a research paper entitled The effect of developmental maturity of female blow fly Phormia regina (Diptera: Calliphoridae) on electroantennogram (EAG) response to decomposition volatile organic compounds.

Cecilia Hageman, PhD, Assistant Professor, was a panelist at a workshop entitled The effective expert witness. She also presented a research paper entitled Body fluids and DNA on frequently handled and used objects. The paper was co-authored by:

  • Stacey Sainte-Marie, Forensic Science Laboratory Technician, Faculty of Science
  • Valerie Blackmore, President, Wyndham Forensic Group

The CSFS also announced at its AGM that Dr. Hageman will become the society’s President in July of 2018.
