University community input sought on new campus building
The university has just finished a decade of incredible growth in its academic and research programs. It will now focus on enhancing its infrastructure for learning, innovation and its identity as a technological university. In addition to the new Software and Informatics Research Centre opening last year, the university has to continue ambitious and strategic growth of its campus space to better serve its mission as an emerging leader in career-ready education and collaborative research that produces new and innovative ideas.
The university seeks input from the whole university community, including faculty, staff and students, on how a new infrastructure could help significantly enhance the campus in serving both the university’s learning and innovation missions. The university has already started working with the UOIT Student Union to provide student-centric space needed to serve its members, as well as provide engaging space for student clubs and other activities.
A town hall this spring will outline parameters and initial thoughts on the space programming. The university will collect perspectives on the principles the university community thinks it should keep in mind as it examines the needs of the university. The goal is to communicate a direction by September.
