This week’s Cinechats selection: Becoming Jane
Each Thursday evening the campus community is invited to enjoy a film screening presented by Cinechats, which is supported in part by the university, Durham College, Arts Forum and the Durham Council for the Arts. Age restrictions apply, as most films are rated for those 18 years of age and older.
This week’s film, (U.K./Ireland, 2007), is about the life of Jane Austen. It combines fact with speculation and plays very much like an Austen novel—complete with a smart, observant heroine, a circle of family and friends populated by well-drawn characters, and an affair of the heart that’s beset by social conventions of the day. It stars , and .
Showtime is at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 12 in the Gordon Willey Building, Room C-113. Admission is $3 per person.
