President's Equity Taskforce

Steven Murphy, PhD, the university’s President and Vice-Chancellor, has spoken passionately about the critical importance of equity, diversity and inclusion in enabling our university to achieve a great future. Consistent with Dr. Murphy’s vision, the university has created the President’s Equity Taskforce (PET) to mobilize a diverse group of people across the university to help establish equitable and inclusive practices on campus.

, Professor, , will Chair the PET, and will report to the Provost in his role as Associate Dean (Equity). A founding faculty member, Dr. Crichlow’s teaching, research, public lectures and workshops focus on the challenge of implementing policies and practices that strengthen broader notions of equity, diversity, inclusion and social justice within educational institutions and organizations across Canada. Dr. Crichlow is also Director for Engagement and Recruitment for Black Youth in Care. He currently serves as Equity Chair for the Canadian Sociology and Anthropology Association and Chair of the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Service’s Community Advisory Board at the Toronto South Detention Centre. Previously, he served as:

  • Co-Chair, Equity and Executive Member for the Canadian Association of University Teachers.
  • Member of the committee on the Status of Women and Equity for the Ontario Confederation of University Faculty Associations (OCUFA).
  • Secretary and Co-Chair, Equity for the Faculty Association.
