Winter 2018 Teaching Squares opportunity for all faculty

Are you a full-time or part-time faculty member looking to connect with colleagues? Are you interested in observing other classes to gain new insight? If so, the Teaching Squares program might be of interest to you.

Offered by the university’s Teaching and Learning Centre (TLC) and the Durham College Centre for Academic and Faculty Enrichment (CAFE), this professional development opportunity provides a chance for you to meet colleagues from a range of disciplines and reflect upon your own teaching practice.

Each group (square) includes four instructors from a variety of disciplines. Group members may be from the university or the college. Participants visit each other’s classes to observe teaching methods, classroom materials and classroom management. After observation, they meet together to reflect on the positive lessons learned and discuss how they can improve their own teaching practices. All participants complete a brief reflection at the end of the program. A celebration dinner for all Teaching Square participants follows.

The total time commitment over the semester is about seven to eight hours. There is no cost to participate. Return participants are welcome!

Registration for the Winter 2018 offering of this program is open until 1 p.m. on Thursday, February 15.
