FESNS welcomes visitors from China

On January 23, the Faculty of Energy Systems and Nuclear Science (FESNS) welcomed:

  • Tiezhu Zhang, PhD, President; Wen Qing Ge, PhD, Professor; and Binbin Sun, PhD, Professor, Shandong University of Technology.
  • Hongxin Zhang, PhD, Professor, Qingdao University.
  • Xiaojie Zhang, Project Director, Shandong Wina Green Power Technology Co.
  • Baoyuan Yang, CEO, Wina North American Technology Co.

The visitors toured ACE and other parts of the university, and then met with FESNS members to discuss potential collaboration among the three universities. The visit followed up on the research collaboration Hossam Gaber, PhD, Professor, FESNS initiated in China’s Shandong province, as well as successful projects related to:

  • Flywheel-based energy storage for resilient energy and transportation infrastructures.
  • Development of advanced electric wheel technology for clean transportation.

Akira Tokuhiro, PhD, Dean, FESNS, suggested potential collaboration and student exchange in the energy systems areas and as part of the planned Bachelor of Technology program. Douglas Holdway, PhD, Interim Vice-President Research, Innovation and International also welcomed the visitors and indicated interest in supporting collaboration in research and innovation between Canada and China.
